Change 1’s mission is to improve the lives of children, youth and families that experience the Child Welfare system and other Health & Human Services systems in order to ensure successful outcomes. 

Positive Youth Development (PYD) is both a philosophy and an approach to adolescent development. While there are several definitions of PYD, Change 1 supports the following: 

Positive youth development engages youth along with their families, communities and/or governments so that youth are empowered to reach their full potential. PYD approaches build skills, assets and competencies; foster healthy relationships; strengthen the environment; and transform systems.
