Help us share the love with young people impacted by foster care.

Change 1's 3rd Annual DFW Thanksgiving Celebration brings together youth in foster care ages 14+ and foster care alumni ages 18-26 for a Thanksgiving meal, fellowship, fun, and a holiday box to take home. Volunteers help organize donations, prepare holiday gifts, welcome guests, and support the celebration. Individuals and groups are welcome!

Secretary

The Secretary serves as the Board’s governance and communication anchor, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and organization in all Board proceedings and official records. This role supports the Board in fulfilling its fiduciary and operational responsibilities through strong documentation and coordination.

Treasurer

The Treasurer serves as the Board’s financial steward, ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency in support of Change 1’s mission. This role oversees the organization’s financial health and provides strategic guidance for sustainability and growth.

Change1 is always looking for volunteers who understand young people need a second chance. Youths can’t pull themselves up by their bootstraps;. They need compassionate support.

We have opportunities to put your skills to work on

Setup or serving at events, or
Just have fun with the kids.

If you like working with youth, are willing to learn about child welfare in a nonjudgmental way, and have time to give, we can work with that.

We love creative, self-starters who can take ownership of projects. There’s so much to do!

If Holiday caring is your thing, we provide fellowship to show foster youths someone cares at Thanksgiving.

There’s an overrepresentation of children of color in foster care, often placed with families who don’t look like them. Taken from my culture and traditions, I remember not feeling thankful. I never want a child to go through Thanksgiving without feeling thankful that someone cares. We make a big deal of the Holiday and ask the children what they want, what brings them joy, creating personal care kits for all the children we can reach.
